Firewood Company in Lincolnshire Highlights Reasons For Fluctuating Firewood Prices

Fireplaces are eminent in many houses in the UK. It is not the only place to sit comfortably with a book on a winter evening, but fireplaces in the house often are the heart of the house. It is the source of the warmth that keeps you at bay from the cold hands of winter. But merely sitting in front of the fireplace will not suffice. If you need a crackling fire, then you would also need the correct firewood. That does not suggest that you have to go on a tree cutting, wood splitting spree. Now there are a few firewood company’s in Lincolnshire that can make things easier for you. Sitting right in your home, you can order some good quality firewood logs for sale. Many of the Lincolnshire firewood companies have started accepting orders online. They also invite buyers to come over to the yards to inspect the firewood and then make a purchase.

Firewood logs for sale are generally bought by people according to the volume and not the weight as often the weight is affected by the moisture content. A method of measuring firewood is according to cords of wood which is  4 inch x 4 inch x 8 inch of stacked timber and can be broken down into ½ cord or ¼ cord. This is an accepted method of buying firewood in North America. However, in the UK, firewood tends to be sold in loose loads and not stacked. So, it is important to see how much wood will be available for the amount of money paid.

The common method followed by most firewood companies in Lincolnshire is to sell firewood logs in net bags, as seen in garage forecourts, or as ‘bulk’ loads, which may be delivered in woven nylon bulk bags or in the back of a pick up or trailer. Logs described as bulk are not stacked into the bags and therefore 1 m³ of bulk loose logs will be a less than 1 m³ of neatly stacked logs.

Note with the firewood, buyers might often face a problem with the price of firewood quoted by Lincolnshire firewood companies. It is often common to find differences in the price and there are certain factors that are found to affect the price of firewood.

The price of firewood is often determined by the energy content of the kind of wood one is buying. Say for example soft woods have about half the energy content per cord of wood when compared to the hardwood variety. Plus there are surplus charges for transportation as well as storage. Counting all that in, the cost of hardwood is definitely going to be more than soft woods.

Then the quality of the wood is also to be considered. It is always better to buy seasoned firewood logs rather than the green ones, which will contain more moisture. Seasoned logs will be dry and easier to store as well.

The size of the firewood logs for sale is also a factor. It is seen that firewood in shorter lengths cost more compared to the large pieces.

Other factors count for the amount of firewood purchased, location of the yard from where the purchase is made and so on.

Hence, all these often contribute to the variations seen in price of firewood. Paying a little extra helps as good quality firewood logs will provide the much needed warmth for a longer time.
